About Dyed Products
The method of dye application, combined with tying, controls flow of dye onto the fabric Dye application achieves different color results, including splitting, bleeding mixing, contrast. Color is fixed to the fabric using a dye application, but the type of dye used determines how well it bonds the fabric. Sometimes color fixing also involves locking the colors in place. We use eco-friendly products in our process. Product care determines the longevity of dyed products - colored fabrics fade and shrink over time when laundered with heat in the washing and/or drying process.
Dye Application
Ice-Dye
This method of dyeing involves the application of ice with the dye. Ice controls how the dye spreads on the fabric and the placement of the dye with the ice determines the level of color splitting and bleeding.
Hot Water Irrigation
This method of dyeing involves the application of hot water with the dye. Hot water opens up the fabric's fibers, which allows color penetration to the fabric, and gives control of color spread and mixing.
Liquid Dye
The method of dyeing involves the mixing and application of dye using a vat or bottles. Vat dyeing is great for single color application whereas bottle dyeing allows more detailed application of color.
Product Care
Wash Before Use
Although we send out our products already washed, it is unknown what can or may happen when the product is in transit, nor do we know the customer's skin ailments/allergies/condition. As we have no control of transportation hazards, so too we have no control over customer skin conditions. As a result, we recommend you wash your product prior to use.
Washing & Drying
We recommend washing colors in cold water to prevent color bleeding with other fabrics and to preserve the color of the fabric.
Depending on the fabric, drying with hot heat can shrink fabrics. We recommend drying dyed natural fiber products no higher than a low/medium heat to prevent color fading and shrinking.
Wash Detergents
We strongly recommend staying away from products containing bleach when washing dyed products - bleach removes color.
We encourage our customers to use biodegradable laundry products or detergents containing color enhancers made for cold water wash.
